Elderly Citizens and Disabled Persons of Prince William County who meet certain criteria may be granted relief from all or part of their real estate taxes, personal property tax, the vehicle license fee, and the solid waste fee.
Applicants must be 65 years of age or older as of December 31st of the current year; and/or totally and permanently disabled; own and occupy the home as his/her sole dwelling; have a total income from all sources of not more than $81,490; the first $10,000 for seniors, or $7,500 for disabled, earned by a relative living in the home is excluded from income; a combined financial net worth of not more than $340,000, excluding the residence and twenty-five acres of land.

The deadline for filing an application for tax relief is April 15th. This deadline may be extended by the Finance Director, but only if the applicant is applying for the first time or for cases of hardship and where failure to apply by the deadline was due to reasons beyond the applicant's control.
