Loudoun County Department of Social Services participates in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps. SNAP benefits are electronic benefits that can be used like cash to buy food at any store that has a sign displaying the Quest logo or a picture of the Virginia Electronic Transfer Benefit card.
Each eligible household will receive a card that may be used like a bank debit card to purchase eligible food items from your account. Plants and seeds to grow a garden can also be purchased.
Residents in need of food assistance should contact the Loudoun County Department of Family Services (DFS). Eligibility workers determine each client's eligibility for various public assistance programs including SNAP. The SNAP program requires a face-to-face interview.
The application for the Financial Assistance programs may be obtained at the Virginia Department of Social Services in the Financial Assistance section. Food Assistance applications may be submitted on the secure online website and all applications may be faxed to 703-771-5203.
