Who We Are

Education is provided to children and youth with vision loss throughout Virginia so they may become independent and self-sustaining. Literacy, independence and the use of technology are critical to academic and vocational success of blind and partially sighted persons.

Teachers provide direct instruction in the use of technology, including access to print and internet information through computers, electronic note takers, screen readers and low vision devices, reading machines and Braille translation software.

Students have access to specialized accommodations, including but not limited to Braille, Large Print, Victor Streams, Braille Note, CCTV, tactile instructional materials, computer labs, and a variety of low vision aids.
